where did you
get the name?

It’s the No. 1 question I get any time Humble Onion Creative comes up.

The Internet.

It’s a bizarre place, and it’s where I spend most of my working hours. But for my partner, Sam, and his friends, it’s a universe made for spare time. When he and his friends began tossing around the misnomer “in my humble onion,” to end their in-depth criticisms of pop culture and sports. Though they claim they didn’t invent it, it was new to me.

It felt perfect for what I envisioned my business to be – one that has insightful, data-driven strategies but a light-hearted air at the same time. It is marketing, after all, and it’s not one-size-fits-all.

Meet the whole team here, and read more about why I chose to focus on education here. It’s worth it.

I’m Kali, an award-winning layout designer and nonfiction writer who works primarily with education and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, I served as the senior graphic designer for the University of North Alabama for five years, which explains the purple and gold throughout the portfolio you’ll see here.

When I’m not doing the work I love, I’m researching the latest trends and techniques anyway. Sam, our dog, Sally, and I can be found curled up with books, video games, thrillers, or anything else with a wild storyline.

If you’ve had a story you’ve always wanted to tell, that’s what I’m here for.

Say hi any time!
